In short, “Hey, you! Pay for something that I think would be really cool.”
Now that’s some good “limited government” right there.
Government created the railroads? The Wright brothers worked with taxpayer money? I thought they worked in a bicycle shop. The colonists all came to America to work for government, and got here on the government dime?
Bold visions are wonderful. Someone else’s bold visions using my money are NOT.
Building a moon-base is not mentally unstable. Proposing to build one at an unspecified cost, for unspecified and unknown benefit, using taxpayer money at a time when the country is $14,000,000,000,000.00 in debt IS mentally unstable.
The Cold War is over. At least, with respect to the Soviet Union. The Space Race is over. Questions of who will be the first to militarize space are over … technologically speaking. We have no overwhelming need to display technological superiority as a proxy for military might to a monolithic enemy State is OVER.
This is no longer a national security issue. It is taxpayer funded, government directed, inefficient and dubious science. If it cannot be accomplished PRIVATELY, with the money FREELY given by investors who share a “bold vision” and who bear the risk of FAILING in bringing that vision to life; THEN IT AIN’T WORTH DOING. Much less, doing with money STOLEN AT GUNPOINT from citizens who have no desire to contribute to this “bold vision”.
The maker of the video says he’s “to the right”. To the right of what? To the right of whom? Stalin? Wilson? FDR? Barack Obama? … not on THIS issue.
To suggest using taxpayer money to fund an individual’s, or group’s, “bold visions” IS mentally unstable.
It is government at its worst. It is socialism advancing to communism. It is the LEFT’s “general welfare” and “public benefit” arguments. It is anathema to the FREE Market. It is anathema to “limited government”. It is anathema to the purposes of any JUST government as outlined by John Locke. It is anathema to the American Revolution. It is anathema to Freedom.
Fundamental Principles. They’re neat. They’re either true, or they’re not. They’re applicable, or they’re not. They are for FOLLOWING. Not for following UNTIL … government wants to fund YOUR pet project.
Shall I repeat this part?:
It is government at its worst. It is socialism advancing to communism. It is the LEFT’s “general welfare” and “public benefit” arguments. It is anathema to the FREE Market. It is anathema to “limited government”. It is anathema to the purposes of any JUST government as outlined by John Locke. It is anathema to the American Revolution. It is anathema to Liberty.
Again?:
It is anathema to “limited government”. It is anathema to the purposes of any JUST government as outlined by John Locke. It is anathema to Liberty.
One mo’ time:
It is anathema to the purposes of a JUST government. It is anathema to Liberty.
WTF? Where am I? What country is this? What is this so-called “conservatism”?
