Just to point out — I live in Alaska, where the gun laws are very lax. We can carry concealed without a permit here and we allow felons to carry unconcealable guns (rifles) out in the woods. We have some gun-related homicide, but home invasions are almost non-existent. It’s just a low percentage way to make a living around here because you’re going to get shot. About every two years, someone is stupid enough to try it with the predictable results, which keeps the rest of the idiots cooking meth instead of breaking into our homes.
