In the church of St. Mary Magdalene in the street Magdalenenstraße in Gernsheim (photo) criminals ran amok between Saturday evening ( August 15) and Tuesday evening ( August 18).

According to initial findings, the unidentified persons gained access to the church rooms by force. Once inside, they damaged several parts of the church furniture. In addition to four silver-plated candlesticks, the criminals also captured a cross. The total damage is estimated at several thousand euros.
