If California’s legislature has it’s way, the state of California may be getting ready to pay reparations to blacks because of slavery…something that was abolished 155 years ago.

Now, the interesting thing is that way back then, California was a “free state”. It didn’t allow slavery. So, why the push to pay blacks for something they had nothing to do with? Well, according to Holly Mitchell (D-Los Angeles), a state senator, it’s because there were some in California’s government who appeased people in the south, even though Cali never got involved in slavery itself.

And California isn’t the first state to take up the issue. Over the past two years, Texas, New York, and Vermont have debated whether to pay reparations.
