The Cottbus district court issued an arrest warrant on Thursday for a Pakistani who had attacked a young local with a knife the day before for no apparent reason. The police and the public prosecutor announced that the 28-year-old immigrant was being investigated for attempted murder.
Cottbus is a university city, the second-largest city in the state of Brandenburg, around 125 km southeast of Berlin. After the attack on the tram, the perpetrator then ran through the carriage as if nothing had happened and got off at the next stop. As he got out, he let out a loud, audible laugh, according to the driver and witnesses. The police searched the Pakistan’s home and seized numerous pieces of evidence.
