Freedom circa 60 AD

Queen Boudica

Boudica rebels and plunders Colchester, she unites the Trinobantes and other Celtic tribes and takes the town. She then massacres the Ninth Roman division and takes London, which she burns to the ground.

The Romans marshall all their remaining troops, nearly 10,000 armed men and cavalry and prepare to face the naked Britons.

Boudica rides around all the tribes in a chariot with her daughters beside her. “We British are used to women commanders in war,” she cried. “I am descended from mighty men! But now I am not fighting for my kingdom and my wealth. I am fighting as an ordinary person for my lost freedom, my bruised body and my outraged daughters… Consider how many of you are fighting — and why. Then you will win this battle, or perish. That is what I, a woman, plan to do! — Let the men live in slavery if they will.”

Freedom is not free. It has never been, it is not now and it never will be. I believe Pelosi, Reid and Murtha among others are abdicating freedom for appeasement. General Petreaus said he would argue against the next president if it meant pre-mature withdrawal. I totally agree with him. More on this later.
